Tarlac State University and the Local Government of La Paz led the inauguration of the new TSU La Paz Campus earlier today (August 8, 2022).

The two-storey building located near the municipal hall has been a dream come true for La Paz Mayor Hon. Venustiano D. Jordan. In his address, he hopes that this campus will pave the way for a better future for the youth of La Paz.

“[In] 2019 when I won [my] first term, [ang] unang ginawa ko [ay] nagpunta sa TSU to talk to Dr. Myrna Mallari. Nakiusap ako sa kanya kung pwede maglagay ng TSU Campus dito sa La Paz dahil may panaginip ako. Ang sinasabi nila, ‘imposibleng mangyari ‘yan’. Pumayag si Dr. Mallari. Ngayon, nandito na tayo. Ginawa nating posible ang imposible,” he said.

The memorandum of agreement for this campus was signed on March 24, 2022 under the term of former TSU president Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari.

On behalf of TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg extended her felicitation and read the president’s message.

“I am honored that our caliber professors and instructors will be teaching and coaching in this campus for the students to acquire the skills, techniques, information, and knowledge necessary to recognize, comprehend, and appreciate the responsibilities we have to our communities, families, and country through education,” the letter read.

Moreover, VP Macaraeg expressed the university administration’s support for the campus.

“On our part, this time, we assure you that your dream is no longer a dream; but your dream becomes a reality… We assure you of our 101% commitment. The only challenge to both of us this time is the sustainability of the program,” she said.

She also said that this campus came into fruition because of TSU and LGU La Paz’s commitment to serve the studentry.

The TSU La Paz Campus is the third LGU-sponsored campus, following Capas and Concepcion campuses. It will operate this academic year 2022-2023.

Said campus will offer Bachelor of Elementary Education under the College of Teacher Education and Bachelor of Public Administration under the College of Public Administration and Governance.
