Tarlac State University, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education, officially opened the Capacity-Building Program for Internal Audit Units of State Universities and Colleges (SUC-IAUs CAPDEV 2026) Basic Training – VisMin Leg today (July 1) at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
With the support of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the three-day training workshop gathered internal auditors and representatives from SUCs across the Visayas and Mindanao regions to strengthen their competencies in internal auditing and promote effective internal control systems in higher education institutions.
In his welcome remarks, Atty. Ian Christian P. Cosido, Cebu Normal University IAU Head, encouraged participants to make the most of the opportunity to learn, share experiences, and apply their knowledge in their respective universities.
Meanwhile, TSU IAS Director and Project Team Leader Dr. Jonathan A. Gabriel provided an overview of the training and urged participants to actively engage in the workshop sessions.
“Don't be afraid to present your outputs. We will learn from our mistakes, and those are the lessons we remember,” Dr. Gabriel said.
The first-day learning sessions comprised an introduction to the Basic Assessment of Internal Control System (BAICS), led by Ms. Carmina D. Dela Cruz, DBM Internal Auditor V.
The SUC-IAUs CAPDEV 2026 series is a capacity-building program of TSU and CHED, which aims to equip IAs across the country with the knowledge and practical skills needed to strengthen governance, accountability, and internal control systems in their respective institutions.
The Luzon leg concluded last May 20-22, 2026.
